2012 Artist of the Year / Emerging Artist of the Year

The 2012 Artist of the Year, Charlee Brodsky, and the 2012 Emerging Artist, Vanessa German are the featured summer/fall exhibits at Pittsburgh Center for the Arts.  The Artist of the Year award, originating in 1949, is one of the oldest and most celebrated tradition at Pittsburgh Center for the Arts. This annual award recognizes those making significant creative contributions to Southwestern Pennsylvania and beyond. After a successful retrospective of all previous honorees in 2001, an Emerging Artist of the Year award was also implemented honoring the work of an artist at an earlier stage in his or her career. The awards provide support to develop new work leading to major solo exhibitions at the Center, confirming the dynamic role of artists in the region’s past, present and future. Also on view are new works by Lewis Colburn, Jennifer Williams and Bohyun Yoon. All shows are on view from August 10 through October 28, 2012.  Admission is $5; free to members.
